Closing...Finally!

I moved back to Atlanta at the beginning of the month so that I could close on my house a few weeks before starting a new job! But it turns out that I wasn't the only one taking advantage of the housing market and tax credits for home buyers... So after several weeks of delays, I was going to finally be able to close on my first day of work. After a long day of learning about policies and benefits, I jumped in the car to make the 20 minute drive to the closing attorney. I guess that the 3 weeks of closing delays weren't enough, so I sat in traffic for 1 1/2 hours and arrived at the closing over an hour late. Luckily for me (but not everyone else), the closing office was running behind, so we waited another 30 minutes or so before they finally took us back.

Eventually all of the forms were signed, checks were written, and I had the keys to my new home! I bought a foreclosure that needs a ton of work but has just as much potential. Contractors will do the major work (new roof, new attic insulation, water-proofing the basement, etc.), and my parents and I will do more of the cosmetic work and smaller repairs. Here's a first look at my new house. More pictures and updates to come!
